Roll On Ron – Get Inspired And Never Give Up

I received an email that tells me about an inspirational story about a paralysed man a few days ago. Inside the email, it shot me with a few questions that keeps me thinking about it for quite a while. Here it goes :

1) Have you ever felt sorry for yourself?
2) Needed a shot of encouragement?

Yes, I have and I also need some encouragement to pull me through some difficult moments.

So, what’s next? I was wondering then. I read on to find out what the message was trying to bring across. Well, it was talking about an incredible man who tells his story.

This man is called Ron Heagy who is paralysed from the neck down. He tells his story of achievement and overcoming adversity. Ron Heagy is a mouth artist, speaker, author and activist. Inside the video clip, you’ll see how Ron uses his mouth to hold a brush to paint a drawing.

Ron Heagy’s determination blesses thousands of people beyond our imagination. His inspirational story makes people realised that our lives are so blessed.

If you need a …
 *  Word of encouragement…
 *  Daily dose of inspiration…
 *  A motivational nudge…
 *  Or maybe you need someone to help you cancel YOUR pity party…

Go and watch the video clip about Ron Heagy now. Get Inspired and Never Give Up!

An Early Birthday Celebration For My Beautiful and Innocent Niece

My dear niece will be turning 12 years old soon on 02 Oct 2008 and it is a day after the Children’s Day. But it falls on a weekday so we have decided to have an early birthday celebration for our little beautiful Princess today.

I drove my sisters, niece and nephews to the Anchorpoint shopping centre along the Alexandra road at around 2pm today. We found a two-storey Chinese cuisine restaurant opposite Anchorpoint. The name of the Chinese restaurant is called Zhou’s Kitchen and its High Tea Buffet starts at 2:45pm and ends at 5pm daily.

We were too early for the High Tea so we made a reservation for 8 persons first and then went for shopping at Anchorpoint shopping centre. I remember I have been to Anchorpoint many years ago and things have been changing quite fast over the years. Perhaps this is a phenomenon in Singapore and the freshness is there if one has not been visiting certain places for quite some times. At least one won’t get bored easily.

The time was finally up after walking around to do our window-shopping. We were really hungry so we headed towards the Chinese restaurant for our High Tea Buffet punctually at 2:45pm. We ordered many different varieties of Chinese food and Dim Sum after ticking our choices on the menu.

Here are the pictures of the Chinese High Tea Buffet.

The Chinese food and Dim Sum at the Zhou’s Kitchen Restaurant are really delicious and yummy. We stuffed ourselves with the good food until we found it hard to walk properly. We like the food there and we will come back to patronise Zhou’s Kitchen in the near future.

Dining My Way To Special-Occasion Dinners

I notice that I have been dining my way to dinners for some special occasions recently. It seems to be a good time to eat and be lazy for a while. A moment to enjoy good food as well as to celebrate the joys of some special occasions.

I was invited to a luxurious buffet dinner at the Shangri-La hotel last Wednesday. One of my highly-respected friends has found a high-paying job after resting for a few months. My friend and I were feeling excited about it and were pestering our dear friend to give us a good treat for getting a new job.

Luckily, she was generous enough to let us choose wherever we wanted to go. So, we chose the high-class place to have our dinner and celebrate for her. This is the first time that I had been to the Shangri-La hotel. I enjoyed the cosy environment and the fine food over there. Besides enjoying the good food, we were chatting, laughing and throwing out our frustrations about our jobs. We stayed there past midnight without noticing that we were the last customers of the night. Then, we went our way home after a great buffet dinner.

Today I was invited to an eight-course Chinese dinner at the seafood restaurant. My peer has just got his promotion and become my immediate supervisor. Perhaps he is the best among the limited choices although he might not be the suitable person. I think he just got the luck. Frankly speaking, I’m not sure whether I should feel happy or sad about it to have my peer becoming my boss. I personally don’t like this kind of thing to happen but what to do. So, I attended the dinner with a mixed feeling.

I will be attending the annual dinner and dance event of our company tomorrow. It starts at 7pm in the evening. It’s a Rocker’s night so the dress code is smart casual. I prepare to go there to have a relaxed and enjoyable evening. It might be a lucky night too.

One of my colleagues has just resigned and he will be leaving next week. I heard that there might be a dinner organised for him but I guess that I might not be able to make it due to I will be having an oversea call happening at the same time.

I have one more colleague resigning and I’m sure we will organise a farewell dinner for her next month. Time passes very fast each day. I think it’s time for me to plan where we wanted to have the dinner.

Wow, I have so many dinners to attend lately. People found new jobs, people got promoted, people quit the old jobs and attend company’s AD&D event. Besides burning a hole in the pocket, I think I’ll be getting fatter and fatter real soon.

Laingan.com — Started This Personal Blog One Month Ago

I started this Laingan.com personal Blog of mine one month ago. How time flies? It has been a month already. I have already published 29 Blog posts so far. Hmm…….this result is not bad. I think my Blog is doing fine and it is updated quite consistently except for certain days that I didn’t update it due to I was too tired and went to bed early.

I chose to start a personal Blog because I wanted to put my thoughts into words and capture the special moments in life. I would have a record of what I have done before when I look back from 10, 20, 30 or even more years from now. I think it will be interesting to read back the Blog posts in time to come.

I remember when I was about to start the Blog, I was busy choosing which Blog theme that I wanted to use besides the domain name and web hosting. I like simple, plain and clean Blog theme/template. I had been browsing through many websites and I’m lucky to find this free WordPress theme designed by Nurudin Jauhari who is an Indonesian Blog theme designer.

This Blog theme is simple and a bit colourful so it is not too dull. I like this Blog and the Blog theme. I hope you like my Blog too.

Orange Festival In Netherlands – Abundance Of Oranges Everywhere

The Queens Day or Koninginnedag of Netherlands falls on 30 April. Orange is the colour of their Royal family. You can see that the Amsterdam’s streets, roads, parks and canals come alive in a sea of Orange. It is preferable if not mandatory to wear orange during this national event of the Amsterdam Orange Festival.

The whole city comes alive with the bright orange colour that you can see everywhere. It should be very fun to visit Netherlands during the Orange Festival.

It is amazing to see that oranges can be used to build windmills, castle, houses and so on. This shows that everything is possible to happen with creative minds and ideas.

P.S. : I get inpsired by the Orange Festival in Netherlands and /or the Citrus Festival or Festival Citrusov in the South of France. So, I had decided to use orange colour as the theme colour when I was designing my new website design.

My website is called LogoVale.com and let me know if you like my design work 🙂

I Want Nobody But You – The Wonder Girls

My friend, the GFF, has shared with me a newly released Korean MV featured by the “Wonder Girls” today. She finds that this video clip entitled “Nobody” is very catchy. Yes, I do agree with her after watching it. The video is rather funny and all I can say is that this is the Korean style of producing the MV.

wonder-girls-nobody

The “Wonder Girls” team is made up of five young, lively and energetic ladies. The girls are teaming up with another popular Korean pop star cum producer called JYP inside the musical video. The MV has a mixture of old school and new school styles in it.

It is interesting to watch the Wonder Girls singing and dancing their way on the stage while JYP is sitting on the toilet bowl and is asking for help after he has found out that the toilet paper has run out. This scene is very comical and funny.

The song is sung in Korean but certain portions of the lyric are in English. I guess you might start singing the “Nobody” song after watching the video clip.

I want nobody nobody but you

I don’t like anybody else

If it’s not you, I don’t want it

I want nobody nobody nobody nobody

I want nobody body

By the way, the video clip has English subtitles. Don’t worry if you don’t understand Korean. Enjoy watching it.

Working Late Recently

I’m very busy with my job and have been working late these few weeks to clear some of the tasks. The to-do list is getting longer and longer. The breathing space is getting narrower and narrower. The pressure is getting larger and larger. I’m getting more and more tired.

I only have a pair of hands but I need to do multi-tasking. The heavy workload requires me to work long hours to clear the tasks bit by bit before they are piling up like a hill. Furthermore, some of my co-workers have tendered their resignation letters recently. They are half-hearted with their job now. Some of them simply ignore what they are supposed to do and leave the unfinished tasks tangling in the air.

In my opinion, these people are just a bunch of irresponsible and inconsiderate folks. One of my co-workers purposely leave thing there and wait for his successor to find out what is needed to be done. He knows that there is a new add-on to the bill of materials but he just didn’t want to update it. He is aware that the new requirement needs to have 2 pieces of sensors instead of just 1 piece. But he just acts blurred and says that only one piece of sensor is needed when his successor checks it out with him.

One of the Buyers is leaving and she has been complaining about the heavy workload that she has had. I just came to find out last week that she has not been monitoring what her vendor is supposed to do. The goods delivery date was supposed to be on 19 Sep but her vendor was still checking out with me about the part fabrication on 19 Sep. The excuse that she gave to me is that she is very busy. Who is not?!

Perhaps I cannot expect too much from my co-workers who are serving their resignation notice in view of people are no longer having the heart to work. However, I feel that the resigning staff should leave gracefully and should try their best to help whoever is taking over the jobs in order to have a smooth transition. I do understand that the list of tasks never ends. What I’m trying to say is that if I choose to leave my company one day, I will do my best to help my successor or colleagues to take over my tasks. I don’t want my team mates to suffer and struggle. I think we should be mature enough to be a responsible working adult.

Blog About Anything Big Or Small In Plain English

If you have been following my Blog, you should have noticed that I had blogged about the Bubble 2.0 song in my Blog post a few days ago.

I like the lyric of the Bubble 2.0 song and it says :

Blog, blog, blog it all

Blog it if it’s big or small

Do you have a Blog? If yes, you are already part of the Blogosphere world. You would know that Blogging can be done in plain English. However, I won’t be surprised if you don’t have a Blog. This is because there are still many people out there don’t know what a Blog is really all about. A Blog is like an alien to them.

What is a Blog? What is Blogging? Who are the Bloggers? If you raise these questions to whoever you know, I’m quite sure that not many people would know how to answer them correctly.

I have got a simple video that explains what Blogging is all about in great details. I hope the video helps to clear your doubts about Blogging :

Curious Cat Fighting With Printer

I happened to find a video clip about a cat that was fighting with a printer on YouTube. It is very interesting to know that the cat can be so curious to see pieces and pieces of A4-sized papers were coming out from the printing machine.

I guess the cat was attracted to the printer because of the noise given out while processing the printing. I personally feel that the noise of printing can be quite loud and annoying sometimes. When animals are confronting with the printing monster, thing can turn out to be a funny and interesting scenario. Basically, animals wouldn’t know what is going on with the machine designed by human being to make duplicate copies of document.

The intelligent way of photostating document is making the human’s work more efficient but it can be a nightmare for animals such as the curious cat appearing in the video clip. The cat might be thinking puzzledly : “What the hell is the monster doing in front of me!”.

This is a vey nice video clip to show how a cat was fighting with a printer. The video owner has candidly spiced up the video with some sound effect that makes it funnier and more humourous than just a plain soundless video.

Wow, this video clip of the curious cat fighting with a printer has close to 2.4 millions views so far. This shows that how popular this video is. Here you go :

An Encounter With A Timid Red-Eyed Cat

My company is located in an industrial park and it is unlikely to find any animal around that area. Two days ago, I was very surprised to see a stray cat was lying on the floor along the corridor at the very far end of the building. My colleague was as puzzled as me to see the “special guest” around.

timid-red-eyed-cat

I was very curious to find out whether this cat would be as friendly as my good companion, ArMeow the lovely black and white cat, or not. Furthermore, the door at the opposite end of the building was closed and it would be too heavy for a tiny cat to push open the door.

So, I decided to find myself an answer and walked towards it. At the same time, I was trying to help the cat to open the door and let it go back to wherever it had come from. As I was approaching the cat, I found that it was a very young cat. It has red eyes, white and light brown furs. It wasn’t a rabbit for sure.

The cat was very frightened to see me approaching it. Guess what? The cat ran away as quickly as it could as if it was running for its life. Perhaps the cat was thinking that I was trying to harm it even though my real intention was to help it escape. To me, that cat is a very timid cat. Never mind, different cats have different characters just like human being. I cannot expect the white and brown stray cat to be as friendly as my lovely ArMeow.
