Inspiring And Motivating Quote – Busy, No Time And Do It Tomorrow


I just came across some very inspiring and motivating quotes created by Pravs J. Although I don’t know whom Pravs J. is or what this person does as a living, I’m touched by the 7 meaningful quotes written by him/her.

I find that the inspiring and motivating quotes were created with words of wisdom. The lines are full of philosophy. Here is an example :

Friendship Verse – For A Special Friend By Helen Steiner Rice


I stumbled upon Helen Steiner Rice‘s verse when I was choosing a birthday card for my friend two weeks ago. The card has a pleasant-looking design but what attracted me the most is the verse written on the front page.

The title of the friendship verse is “For A Special Friend“. I’m touched by the beautiful words written by Helen Steiner Rice who was often referred to as the “poet laureate of inspirational verse“.

Here is how the friendship verse goes :

There are some that we meet in passing
and forget as soon as they go.

because they’re so nice to know.

Take Time To Do Whatever You Need To Do


I came across an inspiring poem when I was doing some reading in the 90s. The message that the poem is trying to bring across is to advise people to take time to do whatever you need to do.

Coincidently, one of my seniors also shared the same poem with me during the early days of my working life. She was full of enthusiasm to spread joy to others. I remember that my senior would grab whoever walk near her and read out the inspiring poem to the person.

She did it repeatedly without feeling tired or troublesome. However, my senior’s act made some of our colleagues feel that she was a bit insane and forceful. Anyway, I feel that she was just too passionate about bringing inspirational thoughts to others so as to help people to live a better life.

Want to know what it takes to Take Time To Do Whatever You Need To Do?

So, I think we need to really slow down at times and take the time to do whatever we need to do besides just working hard like a cow. After all, we are human beings rather than a working machine.

Thus, let us slow down a bit and learn to appreciate life.

Motivational Poem – Persistent Is The Slogan To Press On


When I was attending the free preview of the Millionaire Business Academy seminar, the speaker of that night was Patrick Cheo. He is the Group CEO of AKLTG and he is the person who actually runs the business for the company.

Patrick Cheo has shared a lot of good tips with us and given us many ideas on how we can start up a business for ourselves. I think what he has said is very meaningful. He said that one of the criteria to succeed in any business is PERSISTENT.

This reminds me of a poem that I had read from an anthology. The poem goes like this :

PERSISTENCE

Nothing in the world
can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not;
nothing is more common than
unsuccessful men with talent
Genius will not;
unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination

This is indeed a great poem. So, if we feel that the going is very tough, we should remember that the slogan is to “PRESS ON” — no matter what problem we might face. I believe it will pay off to be persistent.

Maya Angelou – The Poet’s Inspiring Thoughts


I bought a poem book in California in 1994. This book was written by the popular poet called Maya Angelou. I took it out from my book shelf when I was referring it to write my Blog post on the topic of poem on 19 May (just last Thursday). I notice that this book has turned yellowish now. 

I received an email sent by my friend, the GFF, three days ago. This email is mentioning about Maya Angelou was interviewed by the famous talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, on her 70+ birthday. 

I think it is either a coincident or an effect of the “Law of Attraction“. Anyway, I would like to thank my friend for sharing this email with me.

 ‘I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.’

I find what Maya Angelou has said are very inspiring and meaningful. I believe it has inspired us to see things in a different perspective and re-look the way we live our lives.

Short Poem – Four-Line Long Poem With Only One Word In Each Line


As mentioned in my previous Blog post, I have found some short poems that are written in very few words recently. The poem is so short that it only contains four words in it to make a great poem. It’s just amazing! 

Basically, this type of poem is called the four-line long poem. There is only one word in each line and each word has four letters. It’s short and sharp.  

The four-line poem resembles the Chinese’s four-character idioms or Chengyu which literally means that “to become (part of) the language”.

Interestingly, the four-line poems also adopt the use of rhyme if not rhythm in them just like the conventional poems.

I guess you should be able to get the inspiration of creating your own four-line long poems after watching the video clip. So, let’s be creative!

Poem Can Be Written And Given As A Gift


I like to read classic and contemporary poems since I was a student. I had also written a few poems back then during my school days and also during my early working days. 

Most of these poems were humourous poems written to amuse myself. I had also written a few poems as a form of gift to be given to my ex-colleagues during special occasions because I didn’t know what to buy for them during their birthday, farewell day and so on.

I remember one of my ex-colleagues who had received my poem was so impressed and touched that she regarded my written poem was the best gift among the birthday presents that she had had received on that day.

Some of my ex-colleagues were jealous about my poem and they said it sarcastically that their efforts in buying the expensive presents for the birthday girl just cannot match a written poem that didn’t even cost a cent. 🙂 Well, I’m not a cheapo and I think maybe this is called : “A gift from the heart“.

In my opinion, it is not too difficult to write poems if you had the interest in poetry. You can read up more poems whenever you have the opportunity. Meaning to say, the more you read poems, the more you know the technique. The flow of writing just comes in naturally.

I especially like those poems that have an interesting use of rhyme or rhythm in them.

For example :

Books, and my food, and summer rain
