Fried Carrot Cake – I Prefer The White Version To The Black One

I went to IMM shopping centre after shopping at its nearby Jurong Point today. It was already 5pm so I headed to the food court to order some food before it was too crowded during the dinner time.

Actually, I was not hungry at that time because I had taken quite a heavy meal as I ate chicken chop during lunch time. I just wanted to take something light for the evening so I browsed through all the food stalls to hunt for my food.

I think one of the best choices for light meal is carrot cake so I ordered a plate of fried carrot cake (or Chai Tow Kway) and waited patiently for the stall keeper to fry it.

By the way, there are two versions of fried carrot cake. One is the black version that uses sweet soy sauce and the other version is without sweet soy sauce. I ordered the white version because it will taste funny if I were to drink coffee after taking the black version of carrot cake which is fried with sweet soy sauce.

Carrot Cake — The White Version (Chai Tow Kway) :

Carrot cake is made of rice flour and white radish. It is served in large rectangular slabs which are steamed and then cut into small rectangular pieces. The way to cook it is to stir fry the carrot cake with soy sauce, eggs, spring onion and garlic.

Chili paste will be added for those people who prefer to eat spicy carrot cake. The small rectangular pieces of carrot cake are poured on top of a beaten egg to form a crust and stir fried.

I think it is not too difficult to prepare carrot cake if I were to fry it at home. What I need to do is to buy the ready-made steamed carrot cake and then cut it into rectangular pieces. Then, stir fry it with the ingredients.

Your Feet Say It All About Your Characteristics, Personality Traits And Innermost Secrets

I have just read an interesting and informative email talking about feet in relation to a person’s health condition as well as a person’s characteristics.

It says that you can learn about a person’s characteristics, personality traits and innermost secrets by observing the shape of his/her feet and legs. Sounds interesting, right?

Here it goes :

your-feet-tell-about-you

Some Excerpts :

Long, Lean and Smooth Legs :
When legs are long, lean and smooth, this suggests the person will enjoy a smooth sailing life with few obstacles. You are an active, hardworking and helpful person. You are likely to have a very good life before your thirties. After 30, your life depends on other destiny indicators.

Legs are Short Relative to Your Body :
When your legs are short relative to your body, this suggests you are smart, attentive and quiet. You prefer jobs which do not require you to deal with too many people. You may face some obstacles before your thirties, but after that your luck improves tremendously for the better.

Bony Feet :
When feet are bony, this suggests a poor person. Life has many difficulties and it is a struggle to make life go smoothly. So do try to fatten up your feet. Nothing like good fleshy feet to bring the good life!

Middle Toe Longest Among Your Toes :
When your middle toe is the longest among your toes, it is not a good indication as it suggests your destiny could turn irksome during middle age. You could suffer from a perpetual shortage of money and face obstacles that block your success.

Second Toe Longer Than Big Toe :
When your second toe is longer than your big toe, this suggests you will have plenty of food on the table and plenty of friends around you. You impress others with your good heart, so many will speak well of you. But you need to work hard to maintain your increasingly extravagant lifestyle.

I like the last one. Do you know why? This is because my second toe is longer than my big toe. A big congratulation to myself! 🙂

Brain-Teaser Question – What The 7 Words Have In Common?

My friend, the GFF, sent me a brain-teaser kind of email recently. Inside the email, there were 7 words listed in bullet form for the reader to figure out what those words have in common. If you can answer the question, it means that you are smart enough.

I think it is an interesting email for people to tease the brain whether you are smart or not smart. I think it is very important that the person must not be under stressed or being too tensed up before attempting the question.

This is because one would not have a clear and logical mind to think properly especially when the question is designed for a purpose to test people. You may get tricked if you cannot think with a cool mind.

Are you ready for the challenge? OK, good. You are ready.

See if you can figure out what these words have in common :

1) Banana

2) Dresser

3) Grammar

4) Potato

5) Revive

6) Uneven

7) Assess

Are you peeking the answer below or have you already given up? Give it another try. Look at each word carefully. This Is Cool.

What is the answer? If your answer is : “The 7 words have at least 2 double letters”. Then, please try again.

Still cannot figure it out? Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Still wrong? Go and wash your face to refresh yourself.

Still scratching your head? Don’t have any clues? Still Stuck?

OK, let me disclose the answer. In all of the words listed, if you take the first letter, place it at the end of the word and then spell the word backwards, it will be the same word.

Did you figure it out? No? Fret not, this doesn’t mean that you are not smart enough. It just means that you are too stressed out. I didn’t get it right either although my friends often tell me that I am intelligent 🙂

Dozing Off During Free Forex Seminar

I have already conducted the technical training on Monday so I can say that I’m free now and would have the time to do some other things that I like to do.

I received an email last week from a subscriber site pertaining to forex and option trading. It was an invitation for the subscribers to attend a free seminar which would be held on 24 Feb (which is today). Since the seminar is free, I don’t see it will cost me anything by signing up so I just filled up the form and sent it.

I set the alarm in my handphone to remind me of the appointment. It then rang at 5:30pm to alert me so I settled my work and knocked off on the dot this evening. Then, I drove off to the destination.

I went to a food court to have my dinner but I didn’t order my favourite coffee as I felt that my stomach might be too full after drinking the hot soup. But it really felt good to drink hot stuff on a raining day.

After I had taken my dinner, I went to the washroom to wash my face in case I fall sleep during the seminar especially after a hard day on the job.

Then, I took a lift and went up to the registeration counter to collect my freebies. I got a metallic pen, a casual backpack bag and some bronchures as free gifts. Then, I went in to the auditorium and chose a seat at the third row so that I can see the screen clearer.

The seminar didn’t start at 7pm sharp but I think this is quite normal especially on a raining day. The speaker was late by 20 minutes as he was caught in the rain. But I don’t think anybody would mind that since it was a free seminar.

The speaker got settle down and started his presentation on forex immediately. I can tell that this guy is an experienced speaker since he managed to start his speech immediately although he was rushing his way to the auditorium earlier on.

But I found that his presentation was quite boring and I was dozing off shortly. I regretted that I didn’t order strong coffee when I was having my dinner.

So, I must really remind myself to drink coffee before attending any evening seminar next time. Otherwise, I will be falling asleep easily while listening to the monotonous talk.

From Preparation To Conducting The Technical Training To The Skilled Workers

I didn’t go anywhere else but working at home last Saturday and Sunday. I was really serious about the training that I would be conducting on Monday afternoon and was spending a lot of time sitting in front of my laptop to work on my PowerPoint slides.

I did a lot of touch-ups to the PowerPoint for myself to do a good presentation. I spent time working at home and I didn’t even go out for shopping at all. In fact, I was spending all my time gathering the information and inserting the relevant pictures to make the PowerPoint slides less boring.

This is the first time that I was doing a formal training to a group of 10 over persons in a meeting room so I wanted to make it a successful and impressive one. I worked on the PowerPoint and polished it till it was ready for me to present it to my audience on Monday.

I think the opening speech is very important as this is the first impression that you will give to other people. It will either make it or break it. So I had spent some times preparing my opening speech by jotting it down on a piece of paper and rehearsing it when nobody was around.

However, I fumbled a few times when I was rehearsing. Anyway, I was not discouraged by this and I was thinking that I could do better on the actual day which is today.

I even did the rehearsal in my car when I was driving to work this morning. I repeated my opening speech several times and I think other drivers might think that I was insane 🙂

Fortunately, the training went smoothly this afternoon and I have finally conducted the technical training for the skilled workers today. What a relief!

Creamy Chicken Spaghetti

I drove my chubby nephew to Downtown East to play bowling yesterday. He told me that he was hungry so we went to Pastamania to have our spaghetti meal while waiting for my family to arrive.

He ordered his Chicken Bolognese Spaghetti and I ordered my Creamy Chicken Spaghetti. I like to eat spaghetti with creamy sauce and don’t quite like tomato sauce probably because I don’t like sour-tasted food.

Creamy Chicken Spaghetti :

Hmm….the creamy chicken spaghetti really tasted good when it was still hot.

Both my nephew and I really enjoyed our spaghetti meals. I also like to have meal wth my chubby nephew because he is so cute and funny. We really have had a great Saturday afternoon yesterday.

Busy Preparing For Upcoming Training For Skilled Workers

I received a short notice from my superior who has given me a task to come out with a training session for the skilled workers in February in view of the low activities that we are having at the work place.

In fact, this is a good time for us to conduct trainings for the skilled workers and upgrade their skillset. Besides this, I feel that this is an opportunity for us to do some research on specific topic, polish our presentation and public-speaking skills.

Although today is my rest day, I’m busy working at home to prepare the training material for the coming Monday. In fact, I was staying back late in the office to work on the training material yesterday. Everybody was gone by 7pm and I was the only one left in the office working on the PowerPoint.

Actually, I wanted to leave the office early but I didn’t because I was running short of time to do the preparation for the training. I need to gather all the information so as to help myself to do a good job to deliver the necessary information to my audience.

It was getting late and I was feeling tired so I got no choice but to pack my stuff and bring my work home on Thursday evening.

This is the reason why I’m busy working at home although today is my rest day. What needs to be done has to be done whether or not it is a rest day or a working day.

My goal is to give a good presentation to my audience during the training session on Monday. I have to put in significant effort to achieve my goal. Perhaps I need to sacrifice a bit by working at home on my rest day and weekends 🙂

Plan To Explore Business Opportunities Online To Escape From The Rat Race

My collegaue has the intention to explore business opportunities online as he finds that it is getting insecure to work in a corporation.

One of the reasons is that many companies are down-sizing and retrenching employees nowadays due to the global economic downtown. Nobody can boldly say that he or she is able to keep his/her job for now or a few months down the road.

It is even harder to get a new job outside if you plan to switch job. Furthermore, there are so many people are getting retrenched almost every few weeks if not everyday. A few hundreds of people could be fighting for the same job as you do at job fairs.

So, one of the options to get out of the rat race is to find business opportunities online. This is precisely what my colleague is targeting at right now.

He knows that I have my own Blog and have some internet knowledge so he is thinking maybe I can help him out in this area so as to shorten the learning curve. Well, I will see what I can do to assist him in his online venture.

I think it is always good to think outside the box and envision what we are going to achieve in the near future. The path is lying ahead and we have to make some plans to realise our dreams.
