My First Self-Created Cartoon – The Happy Mouse

I have downloaded an open-source vector graphic editor recently. I got to know about this piece of free software from Twitter so I think it can help to widen my horizon and learn new skills by joining some of the social networking sites 😛

I always wanted to learn how to draw cartoon but I didn’t know how to go about doing it. I think vector graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Xara Xtreme and so on can help to shorten the learning curves.

However, most of these vector graphic software are very expensive except for Xara Xtreme which costs less than USD100. Luckily, I found the open-source vector graphic software called InkScape recently while I was considering whether to buy Xtreme or not.

I have been playing around with the software recently and I find it not too difficult to use. I managed to create some simple graphics using Inkscape and I’m having fun using it. But it is not flawless though. Of course, we cannot expect it to have the full-fledge features like those expensive software are providing. Anyway, I’m grateful and happy with Inkscape so far.

My niece’s classmate has had made a sketch of a cartoon mouse on the whiteboard in my house. I based on her master piece and got the inspiration to create the cartoon mouse using Inkscape with my laptop.

Here is my first self-created cartoon :

Do you like My Happy Mouse? I personally like it very much and feel happy that I’m able to draw a cartoon using vector graphic software.

Created More eCover Graphics For Laingan.com Blog

I have been busy practising to create eCover graphics after purchasing the eCover Studio FX v3.0 software a few days ago.

I think I’m very engrossed in creating web graphics lately as I can spend hours sitting in front of my laptop clicking buttons here and there. I’m kind of wondering whether I’m addicted to web-graphics creation or not 🙂

So far, I have created a few eCover graphics featuring in different styles ranging from 3D software box, hardcover book, eBook with CD, think book, spiral report, iPhone, iPod and so on.

iPhone :

iPod :

Spiral Report :

Thin Book :

3D Book with CD :

3D Hardcover Book :

Actually, I’m quite satisfied with the software except for one item, ie. without anti-aliasing. I think it will be better if there is an anti-aliasing feature to smoothen the jagged edges.

Anyway, the price of the software is quite reasonable as compared with that of a few software creators who charge incredibly high which is close to 100 bucks. So, the eCover Studio FX v3.0 software is still a good choice for creating eCover web graphics.

eCover Graphics – 3D Software Box For Laingan.com Blog

I have just purchased a new web graphic software online to create eCover. The software name is called eCover Studio FX and I find that it is a very cool software tool.

There are a few types of eCover graphics that can be created using this web graphic software such as 2D & 3D software boxes, eBook, spiral report, DVD case, CD, iPod, iPhone, membership, etc.

I have just tested out a sample by creating a 3D software box for my Laingan.com Blog. Here it goes :

Hmm, I think the effect looks cool and I’ll create more samples when I have the time.

Pepsi Logo Design Evolution – A $10 Million Dollar Logo Design

Almost everybody is talking about how the global economy downtown has caused great impact to their businesses or to their jobs. Most if not all of the companies are cutting back on their spending and even on investment.

But one of the famous companies is going against the flow during this global economy slowdown. This daring company is a household-known soft-drink company called Pepsi. It is reported that Pepsi has spent an unbelievable $10 million dollar for their new logo design.

The intention is to revamp their entire product range’s images as part of their $1.2 billion campaign. The huge amount of money is going to cause people to raise their eye-brows after hearing the news. Wow, the latest Pepsi logo costs $10 million dollars to produce. It seems like this is one of the most expensive logos ever designed.

The new Pepsi logo looks very simple which has two circles with a little wavy line and nobody could ever believe such a simple logo design would cost $10 million dollars. I agree that a great logo doesn’t have to be complex because a simple logo could give people a long-lasting impression than a complicated one.

In fact, a simple logo design could cost less than a hundred buck if it were to be designed by a decent and low-cost design online shop such as LogoVale.com.

Anyway, you can see how Pepsi’s logos have changed over time by watching the video clip below. It shows the recycled version of an old Diet Pepsi logo from the 80s and then we come to the motif of the logo.

Enjoy watching the Pepsi Logo Design Evolution video clip!

Web 2.0 Graphic Creation – An Attractive Graphic Design Created For Laingan.com Blog

I have had purchased a standard membership for accessing to the Web 2.0 graphic software through the Quick Web Creations site in 2008. I paid a one-time payment for myself to use the web-based graphic software for creating Web 2.0 graphic.

Frankly speaking, I seldom use it because I didn’t have much ideas as to what I wanted to create or for what purpose that I needed to use the web-graphic software.

I didn’t use the software very often until recently. Reason being that I’m preparing to design my own website using Xsitepro software so I would require to make full use of all the resources that I am having.

This is one of the graphics that I have created for my Laingan.com Blog :

I have also created some simple web graphics and sent to my friends as a gift. I hope they will like it. I will also treasure their feedback and comments if there is any, be it positive or negative. It’s fine with me.

I will create different graphic designs and see which are the ones that best suit the theme of my upcoming website. I will then cherry-pick the most suitable ones to put them in my new website.

I need to create web graphics for the header, footer, background, logo and so on. Of course, it requires creativity to do the graphic designing and make the website look professional enough.

For a start, I’m going to aim for simple and comfortable-looking graphic design before going into fanciful ones. After all the web graphics are created, I can start to work on the website design.

I’m targeting to complete the web graphics and website designs within April. Hopefully, everything will be running smoothly and meeting my schedule.

I’m feeling excited about my own designs. I just can’t wait to see my new website go live!

Created 3D Logo Using Vector Graphic Software For Laingan.com Blog

I have just downloaded a 30-day trial version of the vector graphic software from the internet today. I’m full of enthusiasm the whole day and eager to try out the software. I have created a few graphics immediately after practising.

I have also created a 3D logo for my Laingan.com Blog and the graphic effect looks pretty cool. Below is the red 3D logo of Laingan.com Blog :

The logo was created in vector graphic format and I exported it to the bitmap format (JPG) for uploading it to my Laingan.com Blog.

I will try out the vector graphic software further by creating more graphics and exploring more into other features during my free time. Then, I will make a decision whether or not it is worthwhile to buy the vector graphic software to do some graphic design after the 30-day trial period.
