Did You Know – The Progression Of Information Technology

Here is an enlightening video clip on the progression of information technology being researched by Karl Fisch, Scott McLeod and Jeff Brenman. It tells us about what is happening right now.

I believe this is revolving the economies around the world right now as we are experiencing a major shift into technology-driven economies. Information technology has changed our everyday lives tremendously. Computers and internet have made our lives easier and better. They have given us access to the world.

From this, you can see that the internet has a very huge potential if you wanted to do business online or make more friends through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Friendster, etc.

In my opinion, the younger generations and those who keep up to the latest technologies will be much more internet-proficient than those who are PC-illiterate. Perhaps it is time to start picking up internet skills so as not to lag too far behind.

There are many reasons to always be learning new skills as the web is the fastest changing environment that we have. We must keep on learning new things whenever there is an opportunity. So, pick up a skill and start learning…….Right HERE…..Right NOW!

Trendy Worship Song By Mary Mary – Shackles (Praise You)

I stumbled upon a music video featuring a dance-and-praise worship song by Mary Mary. The title of the song is called “Shackles (Praise You)”.

I find that this is against the norm kind of worship song because it is very lively and refreshing. You might want to start your day off by singing and dancing along with this “Praise You” music video. Enjoy!

Jessica The Hippo – A Rare Wild Animal That Keeps As A Family Pet

Most people usually keep dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and so on as family pets. Some people do keep wild animals such as monkeys, snakes, bears, etc. illegally as house pets.

However, I have never heard of people keeping huge wild animals in the family and treating them as their children. Sometimes, the size of the animal can be so huge that it might double the size of human being.

I just found a funny and interesting story about a South African family who owns a female hippopotamus called Jessica as family pet. A kind-hearted gentleman found her being washed up by flood water when she was just a day old. He took Jessica home 7 years ago and he’s still keeping her up till these days.

Jessica the hippo spends her days lazing in the sun and cooling down in the water. She eats snacks with the dogs and she knows where to get food when she is hungry. What Jessica needs to do is to enter the kitchen to look for food.

Jessica plays with other wild hippopotamus at the other side of the river as she likes to do so. But what makes Jessica so remarkable is that she will still find her way back and look for her adopted parents even though she is free to leave any time.

At the end of the video clip, you will see that Jessica likes a massage before she goes to bed after a long hard day of eating. I think this lovely hippo is very dog-like.

I’m inspired by the fantastic bond between human and animal. Jessica the hippo is a wonderful addition to the family of the South African couples who have a kind soul. Jessica is loved and she loves back too.

Motivational Tip – How To Stay Focus And Realise Your Dreams

I believe most people do dream a dream and hope this dream will come true someday. But the question is when the dream will become a reality.

What is really stopping you from reaching any dream you have? Do you ever find out the reasons for not pursuing your dream?

If you have the heart to do something, you will make it happen no matter what is stopping you. If you truly commit yourself to reaching your dream, there is no excuse in this world that could stop you from reaching whatever you want.

If you have a long list of reasons for not being able to make things happen, you are just finding excuses for yourself and you are in fact a typical procrastinator. Perhaps, it is time for you to change your mindset.

I came across a motivational article lately and I’m inspired by the teachings that it advocates. Here is an excerpt of the motivational article :

Start focusing on the realisation of your dreams.
See the loopholes instead of the walls.
See the possibilities instead of the obstacles.
See the challenges instead of the problems.
See your DREAM, and GO FOR IT!

To achieve your goals, reach your dreams, you will have to DECIDE to TAKE ACTION towards it. I hope you are inspired by the motivational article too by learning how to stay focus and realise your dream.

My Piece of Sky Blog Turns 1 Year Old Today | Laingan.com

I started my Laingan.com personal Blog on 25 August 2008 and it’s one year already. Just how time flies? This “My Piece of Sky Blog” turns 1 year old today.

I have written 252 Blog posts including this one. It is not unexpected for me to have come this far in updating my WordPress Blog quite regularly. Thanks to my persistence 😛

This is my little piece of sky for myself to share my views, express my thoughts, record my daily activity, put my feelings into words and so on. The purpose is to amuse myself during leisure time. In fact, this is an entertainment for myself and I feel happy for being able to own this little piece of sky.

While most people enjoy watching TV programs, I would rather spend time doing my writing and reading. They might not understand the amount of joy that this Blog of mine has brought to me. I really enjoy the process of writing every single Blog post.

The enjoyment starts from preparing for the topic that I wanted to write about, organising my thoughts, designing the graphics, editing the photos, uploading the files to the server, publishing the Blog posts, reading my own posts and so on.

I might have come to a point for being long-winded at times because the writing juice will just flow as I write along. But this shows that I can really write 😛

I notice from the Cpanel that people from various countries are following my personal Blog quite regularly. If you are one of them, I thank you for visiting my Little Piece of Sky Blog. I appreciate it 🙂

Photo-Editing Tip – How To Cut An Object Out Of A Background Using Smart Scissors Tool Of Fotoflexer

I have the habit of taking photos of things that interest me. I’m patient enough to take a nice photo most of the time except for moments when I’m in a hurry 😉

There will be time when you find that there are some background objects such as a passer-by or over-crowded scene being captured in your photos but you just need the picture of your friend and none others.

I guess most people will wish that they could remove those extra if not eye-sore objects from your photos 🙂 And you will just keep those objects that interest and matter the most to you .

One of the good and free photo-editing software that I use lately is called GIMP (stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program). This is an open-source software that can do most if not all of the jobs of that expensive Photoshop. Thus, GIMP is often referred to as the “alternative to Photoshop“. However, the learning curve of using GIMP is quite steep if you do not know how to use it.

Today, I stumbled upon an interesting and free photo-editing software called Fotoflexer. This is a web-based software that has a tool called Smart Scissors that allows you to cut an object out of a background with just a few clicks. It makes the background disappear, leaving only the foreground subject.

Fotoflexer is very easy to use and you can follow the steps by watching the video clip below :

My First Self-Created Cartoon – The Happy Mouse

I have downloaded an open-source vector graphic editor recently. I got to know about this piece of free software from Twitter so I think it can help to widen my horizon and learn new skills by joining some of the social networking sites 😛

I always wanted to learn how to draw cartoon but I didn’t know how to go about doing it. I think vector graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Xara Xtreme and so on can help to shorten the learning curves.

However, most of these vector graphic software are very expensive except for Xara Xtreme which costs less than USD100. Luckily, I found the open-source vector graphic software called InkScape recently while I was considering whether to buy Xtreme or not.

I have been playing around with the software recently and I find it not too difficult to use. I managed to create some simple graphics using Inkscape and I’m having fun using it. But it is not flawless though. Of course, we cannot expect it to have the full-fledge features like those expensive software are providing. Anyway, I’m grateful and happy with Inkscape so far.

My niece’s classmate has had made a sketch of a cartoon mouse on the whiteboard in my house. I based on her master piece and got the inspiration to create the cartoon mouse using Inkscape with my laptop.

Here is my first self-created cartoon :

Do you like My Happy Mouse? I personally like it very much and feel happy that I’m able to draw a cartoon using vector graphic software.

Cute And Lovely Baby Orang Utans

I often think that babies are lovely especially those chubby ones. I never knew that baby Orang Utans can be as cute and lovely as human babies.

The video clip below features a bunch of delicate and tiny Orang Utans which are orphans being sent to the rehabilitation centre. This is a place to help the baby Orang Utans to get back to the wild.

The tiny Orang Utans look so cute and adorable. They wear diapers and get bathed just like human babies. I believe these orphan Orang Utans need motherly care and lots of love too as all living things need that. Who wouldn’t?

Let the cute and lovely baby Orang Utans put a smile on your face by watching the video clip.

Friendship Verse – For A Special Friend By Helen Steiner Rice

I stumbled upon Helen Steiner Rice‘s verse when I was choosing a birthday card for my friend two weeks ago. The card has a pleasant-looking design but what attracted me the most is the verse written on the front page.

The title of the friendship verse is “For A Special Friend“. I’m touched by the beautiful words written by Helen Steiner Rice who was often referred to as the “poet laureate of inspirational verse“.

Here is how the friendship verse goes :

FOR A SPECIAL FRIEND

There are some that we meet in passing
and forget as soon as they go.

There are some we remember often
because they’re so nice to know.

Whose memories tug at the heartstrings,
wherever they may be.

Too dear to be forgotten,
and you are that kind to me.

~ Helen Steiner Rice

What an inspirational friendship verse that poet Helen Steiner Rice has had written. It depicts what great friendship is all about and also what I wanted to say to my friend.

Show this touching friendship verse to whom you called true friends and treasure each other’s friendship till the end. Cheers 🙂

Artist David Garibaldi – Amazing Portrait of Christ With His Talent

Artists often give me the impression is that they are cool and calm people who paint their portrait patiently and quietly.

However, it has changed my view on artists lately after watching the process of a few talented artists did their paintings on video. It seems to me is that these artists were either dancing their way or carrying out some martial arts while painting their portraits 😛

Here is a good example to prove what I have just said is true. A very talented artist called David Garibaldi does his painting with his hands while dancing to an inspiring song entitled “The Glory Of It All” by The David Crowder Band.

Watch the video clip below to the very end and see what David Garibaldi’s creation will look like. I find it amazing and I believe it will amaze you too.
