Anita Mui – The Best Of The Best Chinese Female Artists Of All Times

I always remember that the second last day of the year is the death anniversary of Anita Mui since 2003. Time really passes very quickly and today (30 Dec) is Anita Mui’s 5th death anniversary already.

Although Anita Mui is no longer living in this world, she is still one of my most favourite artistes since my school days. I remember that I used to take my pocket money to buy Anita Mui’s cassettes whenever she had released her new songs or albums.

I inserted the cassette to my walkman and listened to Anita Mui’s songs when I was sitting on the bus on my way to school. I was never lonesome as her songs were keeping me company throughout the journey. I often listened to Anita Mui’s songs when I was lazing about on my bed too.

One of Anita Mui’s most popular song is entitled “Bad Girl“. I still can remember her singing : “Why Why Tell Me Why?” although I seldom listen to this song these days.

Just like Momoe Yamaguchi, who is also my favourite artiste, Anita Mui had low, husky and yet powerful voice. She was a born-singer and her good voice had attracted millions of fans and supporters.

Anita Mui was also an excellent stage-performer who sparkled prominently whenever she was on the stage. She can sing, dance, act and perform well. Anita Mui had her talents and her charisma as an artiste of the Hong Kong show business.

In my opinion, Anita Mui is still the best of the best Chinese female artistes of all times. Her all-rounded talents made her outstanding. Nobody can replace Anita Mui so far or forever. Anita Mui is indeed a legend of the Hong Kong entertainment circle.

Let us pay a tribute to Anita Mui.

Hope you enjoy watching her live performance by clicking the video clip below :

Easy To Set But Difficult To Stick To New Year’s Resolution

Everybody talks about setting New Year’s resolution whenever a brand-new year is approaching. Many a time, people will come out with a long list of goals for themselves to achieve in the New Year.

What people will normally set as their New Year’s resolution are things like getting rid of bad habits, doing more exercise to keep fit, quitting smoking, learning new skills, earning more money, getting rid of being late, writing a book, scoring better results in their studies, learning to play golf, getting a driving license, learning a foreign language and the list goes on……..

However, when you ask these people to make a summary of what they have achieved at the end of the year, I think not many of them would be able to tell you boldly that they have realised most if not all of their New Year’s resolution. In other words, they are not sticking to their New Year’s resolution to realise them.

Probably, these people will find some excuses for themselves by putting off the New Year’s resolution till the next New Year. But the thing is that there is always a New Year. If they were to push back their New Year’s resolution to the next year, then those goals that they wish to achieve will never end. They will forever have a long and unfinished list of goals to meet.

So, what is the point of setting New Year’s resolution if we cannot fulfill the tasks and achieve our goals then? I think it won’t make us feel good by doing ourselves too much lip services but without actually taking any action to make things happen.

Besides being lazy, I believe the biggest problem lies with most people is something called PROCRASTINATION. So, if you don’t want to be a procrastinator, you would better stick to your New Year’s resolution and start working to realise your dreams.

Time To Make New Year’s Resolution For The Coming Year 2009

We have just said good-bye to Christmas and we are going to welcome the arrival of our new year. It is time for us to think about what we are going to do in year 2009. In other words, this is a moment for us to make new year’s resolution.

I just happened to receive an email from an author of a subscriber site. He sent a viral email with funny pictures and a list of interesting advices. I find the pictures funny and the list very meaningful. So, I’m going to share it with you over here.

An Interesting Guideline To Make Your New Year’s Resolution :

  1) Set a goal for yourself

  2) Smile as often as you can

  3) Share your happiness

  4) Be ready to help people

  5) Be childish

  6) Learn to live in harmony with other people

  7) Keep your humor

  8) Learn to forgive

  9) Cherish real friendship

10) Be co-operative and enjoy teamwork

11) Do not ignore your loved one

12) Be confident

13) Respect the weak

14) Don’t work too hard

15) Be brave and try new things

16) Do not take money too seriously

I think it would be better for me to spend some time to think of what I’m going to do in the brand-new year 2009. Then, I shall jot down my new year’s resolution in a handbook for me to make an effort to realise each item one by one.

Happy Birthday To My Sister Whose Birthday Falls On 27 December

One of my sisters is having her big day today as her birthday falls on 27 Dec. Wow, there are altogether 3 birthdays celebrated in this month. I think that December is a month for having celebrations for many occasions, ie. birthdays as well as Christmas.

We went to a Chinese cuisine restaurant this afternoon to have our lunch. This place is called The Soup Restaurant which is my sister’s favourite restaurant as she likes the food there very much. Her favourite dishes are Samsui chicken, Lotus root soup, Scallop with broccoli and so on.

After having our lunch, we went to the Angie The Choice confectionery shop to buy a birthday cake for our sister. She chose a durian cake with a diameter of 20cm. Quite a big cake which is enough for more than 8 persons to eat.

Hmm…the durian cake is really very yummy. I like the taste of the fresh cream, the durian and the spongy cake. I think it would be nice if I could have a durian cake for my birthday too 🙂

Happy Boxing Day – Unwrap Your Christmas Gifts If You Have Not Already Done So

Christmas has finally past in a blink of an eye. How time flies? Today is the Boxing Day to unwrap Christmas gifts. Have you already unwrapped yours?

Actually, my niece and nephews had already unwrapped the gifts on the Christmas Day as they were too impatitent to wait for one more day till the Boxing Day to see what were packed inside the wrapping papers.

In fact, the children had been waiting to receiving their Christmas gifts or presents since the beginning of the year. It just seems too long to wait for another day for them.

If I were them, I will also do the same because it is always full of anticipation and excitement when we have received our gifts or presents for any occasion. We, human beings, are just too curious to find out what is inside the gift.

So, the day to unwrap the Christmas gifts or presents actually falls on the Christmas Day rather than on the Boxing day for our family. I’m not sure whether majority of the people will do likewise or they will wait till the Boxing Day to unwrap the gifts.

Hmm…..I think it would be interesting to find out by doing a little survey with friends and colleagues. I shall find it out.

Merry Christmas 2008 – Spend More Quality Time With Your Family, Friends And Loved Ones

MERRY CHRISTMAS! HO…HO…HO….Santa Claus is coming to town! I hope that you have a great holiday and a wonderful coming New Year 2009.

It doesn’t really matter whether or not you celebrate Christmas in your country. Christmas Day is indeed a great day to spend some quality time with your family, friends and loved ones.

This is also a day to share joy and fun with those people who are close to you. I really hope you could spend some time with them on this festive season day.

Slow down your pace and keep them company. You will never know how grateful and delighted your loved ones could be having you by their side.

I think it is all about prioritising what really matters in life. Take a moment to think about it. Maybe you would realise the source of your motivation is actually coming from those people who matter most to you.

By the way, the coming week would be a great time to plan out the coming year 2009. It is about time to set your goals for your personal life, studies, career or business. Have a good thought. I hope you have a wonderful time for the day.

Christmas Eve – A Gift-Exchange Day 2008

Today is the Christmas eve and this is the day to do a last-minute gift-purchase for your family, friends and loved ones if you have not already done so.

01-christmas-gifts

Most of the companies would be having the Christmas gift-exchange activity today. Some of my collegaues who are organising the gift-exchange activity have set certain rules for the participants to follow. The rule is that the gifts have to be something useful.

They have come out with a list of items which they do not wish to receive as Christmas gift. These items are chocolate, sweets, mugs, photo frames and so on. I guess the intention is to prevent the receivers from getting disappointed for getting something which they perceive as useless.

But I think the people should receive whatever gifts given gracefully rather than complaining too much about the usability of the gifts, right? Christmas is a day for sharing joy and let us just be happy.

Beary Christmas Tree – An Abundance of Cute Soft-Toy Bears

Just a blink of an eye, Santa Claus will be coming to town. You can see Christmas trees, decorations, crafts and gifts almost everywhere.  You can also feel the joy of the festive season especially at the shopping malls.

As most if not all of the companies are reactive to the world economic slowdown, they are enforcing their staffs to take many days of annual leave or they are having a shorter work week for now. Furthermore, the December school holiday is not over yet. Therefore, you can see that everywhere is packed with people.

I think probably one of the most easiest ways to past time is to go for shopping if you do not wish to stay at home. So, I chose to spend my Sunday at a shopping mall last week.

While I was on my way to the Marina Square shopping centre, my eyes were attracted by a Christmas tree packed with soft toys displaying at the Suntec City.

This Christmas tree is full of soft-toy bears and I think this Beary Christmas tree is cute and lovely. So, I took a quick snap of this Beary Christmas tree before making a move to the shopping mall.

Singapore Flyer – Our Second Visit To The Singapore Flyer in 2008

I don’t have to send my nephew to his tuition class this Saturday and next Saturday. Thanks to the December school holidays and Christmas. This means that I would have more time either staying at home or going out to shop around during the weekends.

My sister still got a few Singapore Flyer coupons that she had bought with a discount. These coupons must be consumed within this year so we had decided to bring our niece and nephews to take the Singapore Flyer ride this afternoon.

I think it would be a good experience for the children to know more about the Singapore Flyer by taking the ride personally rather than to base on what is reported in the newspapers or magazines to know that the Singapore Flyer is 165m tall.

Each capsule takes 30 minutes to complete one cycle. After taking the ride, we went to the man-made pond to feed the Koi over at the Singapore Flyer garden.

After spending a few hours at the Singapore Flyer, we moved on to our next program, ie. shopping at the nearby shopping centres. That was how I spent my Saturday today.

Christmas Song Video – Cute Animals Got Talents Too

Just watched a cute video clip on YouTube featuring a bunch of animals singing Christmas song. I find it very entertaining to see the animals of different species singing Christmas song with the help of some special effects produced in the video. It is indeed very cute.

I think the creator of the video clip has done a very good job in designing the animation to match the song. It makes the flow of the video a smooth and interesting one.

Besides the popular “American Got Talent” and “Briton’s Got Talent” shows, I think the creator of the video clip has produced a successful “Animals Got Talent” video too.

As Christmas is drawing near, I think the “Cute Animal Christmas Song” is a fun video for the families, friends and loved ones to watch and share the joy.

Here is the video clip of the “Cute Animal Christmas Song” :
