Pulling Grey Hairs

Probably one of the best things to do after washing hair is to do some reading. This is because your mind will feel so fresh and able to absorb information very much better as compared with after having a meal.

So, I took out a book to read on a Sunday afternoon. After I did my reading for an hour, my 10-year old nephew came and asked me whether he needed to pull grey hairs for me as I had asked him to do so a few weeks ago.

Of course, I was more than willing to let him pull my grey hairs for me as I find it an enjoyment to let somebody else to do the service for you 🙂 . Furthermore, my nephew is such a lovely, caring and adorable boy. I will just let him have “some fun” by hunting grey hairs and pull them off.

I think a little gesture would go a long way. My chubby nephew shows his concerns to me in his own way. I would also give him a little incentive by rewarding him with 10 cents for every single strand of grey hair that he pulls out. Then, let him save the money in his piggy bank.

Time To Get Back To Work After The Long Holidays

The Christmas season is over and the brand-new year 2009 has just arrived. Stop thinking about the past as they were gone forever. Now, it is time to “get back to work” after the long holidays.

I guess most of the people should have started work today just like me. Although I have a few tasks to do at work, my mind is still on vacation for now. Maybe I need a day or two for myself to adjust back to the usual fast working pace before starting another round of “fire fighting” again.

When I talked to my colleagues this afternoon, I found that I was not alone as they shared the same holiday-mood as me. So, I think this is normal for working adults as well as for students. Perhaps it really puts people off when the adults hear the “Get Back To Work” and the school children hear the “Get Back To School” phrases ringing in their ears before the holidays ended.

Just a blink of an eye, the holiday season is over. All of us would probably exclaim : “Time flies when you are having fun!“.

Oh gosh! It’s really no fun when thinking about you are going to get stressed out again at work. Hmm….maybe I need some “warm-up” before gearing up to full speed again.

Time To Make New Year’s Resolution For The Coming Year 2009

We have just said good-bye to Christmas and we are going to welcome the arrival of our new year. It is time for us to think about what we are going to do in year 2009. In other words, this is a moment for us to make new year’s resolution.

I just happened to receive an email from an author of a subscriber site. He sent a viral email with funny pictures and a list of interesting advices. I find the pictures funny and the list very meaningful. So, I’m going to share it with you over here.

An Interesting Guideline To Make Your New Year’s Resolution :

  1) Set a goal for yourself

  2) Smile as often as you can

  3) Share your happiness

  4) Be ready to help people

  5) Be childish

  6) Learn to live in harmony with other people

  7) Keep your humor

  8) Learn to forgive

  9) Cherish real friendship

10) Be co-operative and enjoy teamwork

11) Do not ignore your loved one

12) Be confident

13) Respect the weak

14) Don’t work too hard

15) Be brave and try new things

16) Do not take money too seriously

I think it would be better for me to spend some time to think of what I’m going to do in the brand-new year 2009. Then, I shall jot down my new year’s resolution in a handbook for me to make an effort to realise each item one by one.

Making A Plan To Clear Excess Annual Leaves

Year end is coming, it’s time for me to make a plan to clear my excess annual leaves. I still have 11 days of leaves brought over from last year and I have to clear them before the leaves are forfeited.

I plan to clear 4 days of leave in the month of November and 7 days in the month of December. Most probably I’ll take a day of leave on every Fridays so that I will have a shorter workweek for me to rest especially after I was having a busy work schedule in the past few months.

I don’t have a concrete plan yet as to what I’m going to do when I’m on leave. Maybe I will ask some of my friends out for lunch or visit museums or go to the beach and so on. I think this is a good time to catch up with friends and ex-colleagues.

Went Home Early Today When The Sky Was Still Bright

Everything is slowing down when the world economy is weakening. Everybody’s morale is going down the hill too. Overtime is controlled as the customers are pulling handbrake on goods shipment so most of my colleagues are knocking off at 6pm sharp these days.

Since the urgency of producing the outputs is no longer there at the production line, I don’t have to stay back late probably starting from this week. So, I left the office at around 6:30pm today when the sky was still quite bright. I will need to adjust to going home early from now onwards as I have been working late for the past 3 months and I’m quite used to going home late.

One thing good about going home early is that I will have more time to do those things that I like to do. For example, I have bought a few books which have been sitting on the book shelf and have been collecting dusts for quite some time. Now, it’s about time to take the books out for me to do some reading.

I think I would better schedule my time accordingly and do some planning for myself. Maybe it’s time for me to start thinking about my resolution for next year.

Slowing Down Is The Pace For Now

‘The global economy is slowing down. The stock market is crashing as it is already in the bear market. The Lehman Brothers has gone bankrupt. Investors are in a panicky mood for buying high but selling low.

It seems like the world is likely to head for a deep recession. Everybody is panic because a recession looming for the US could affect countries all over the world. This is understandable because most parts of the world are relying on export to the world’s biggest economy, ie. USA.

Consumers will restrain themselves from buying goods, retailers will suffer from the declining sales, big corporations will probably cut jobs and retrench staff in order to survive and so on. If this really happens, it is going to affect you, me and everybody. The fate for everybody is either to keep or lose the job.

Now, even my customers are on holding the shipment till further notice. This is quite surprising but not totally unexpectable. They are reactive to the weak economical outlook. Probably they foresee the demand will be low and the consumers will be holding back on spending.

The chain reaction to this is to cut overtime, to cut traveling , to plan for plant shutdown and so on. The emphasis is on cost saving. This also translates into many people are going to be very free. Perhaps it is a time for people to plan for budgeted holidays.

I’m very busy with my work since the past few months. But I foresee myself is going to be very free soon in view of the activities are slowing down due to the poor eoconomical climate. I think the pace for everybody and for myself is to slow down. Do one thing at a time, no hurry, no fire-fighting, take my time, relax and have peace.

Habit Of Writing Things Down

I have the habit of writing things down in a handbook or notebook. I like to jot things down rather than solely relying on my brain cells to remember every single little detail. If you do recall that I have had blogged about the brilliant quote of Confucius earlier on, he says that : “The palest ink is more reliable than the most powerful memory“.

I believe absent-minded people would appreciate Confucius’ quote greatly especially when it comes to remembering important events or remarkable incidents. Writing things down is just like footsteps imprinted along the path that you have taken. The written notes might become something memorable in your life. You might find it amazing to have come this far when you look back from where you are.

I like A5-sized spiral-bound notebook as I find it handy. I have the habit of using mechanical pencil to write things down as pencil marks can be erased easily if a mistake is made as compared with ball-point pen. It looks more neat and tidy.

I went to the Popular bookstore to buy an A5-sized and an A7-sized spiral-bound notebooks yesterday. I am going to use the A5-sized spiral notebook for my work as my company does not have any spiral notebook that can fit in to my black notebook cover. Although I come out with my own pocket money to buy stationery for my office use, I would rather do it this way than to use something that I don’t feel comfortable with.

Here is a picture of the A5-sized spiral-bound notebook :

As for the small A7-sized spiral-bound notebook, I found it by chance while flipping around.

This is a checklist kind of notebook that is properly divided into a few columns for date, time, activity, remark and tick.

I know that I need this little and very handy notebook because I’m very forgetful when it comes to bill payment. I often forget to pay my bills on time and there goes the penalty fee. Gosh! The A7-sized spiral-bound notebook is going to help me to be more organised in handling my bills.

Besides writing things down to remind myself to pay bills on time, I think I have to discipline myself to do it diligently and follow the dates religiously. Otherwise, it is going to defeat the purpose of having the notebooks to help myself in remembering things. Well, I would better set my heart on doing it.

A Pair Of Hands Is Not Enough

I have not been updating my Blog for a few days. Reason being that I’m really very busy with my work lately. I work long hours till close to midnight almost everyday. I don’t have enough sleep either. I think this kind of working lifestyle is not too healthy. Something needs to be done in order to improve the situation.

I’m just getting tired and stressed with the endless list of tasks that I need to do. I have a pair of hands just like anybody else but the workload is so heavy that it seems like it requires an “octopus” to handle. Well, how I wish I could handle many things at the same time just like an Octopus so that I can have 8 tentacles to help me out to tackle the tasks assigned to me.

Hopefully I can have a more balance working life and personal life soon especially when the global economy is slowing down. The demand and supply might go down. Corporations might have lesser activities going on.

This is not a good sign for everybody but at least it is a time for people to think twice to judge whether work is more important than personal life. Perhaps it is a time to ponder as to whether we should spend more quality time with the family and set some time aside for leisure besides working hard like a cow.

Working Late Recently

I’m very busy with my job and have been working late these few weeks to clear some of the tasks. The to-do list is getting longer and longer. The breathing space is getting narrower and narrower. The pressure is getting larger and larger. I’m getting more and more tired.

I only have a pair of hands but I need to do multi-tasking. The heavy workload requires me to work long hours to clear the tasks bit by bit before they are piling up like a hill. Furthermore, some of my co-workers have tendered their resignation letters recently. They are half-hearted with their job now. Some of them simply ignore what they are supposed to do and leave the unfinished tasks tangling in the air.

In my opinion, these people are just a bunch of irresponsible and inconsiderate folks. One of my co-workers purposely leave thing there and wait for his successor to find out what is needed to be done. He knows that there is a new add-on to the bill of materials but he just didn’t want to update it. He is aware that the new requirement needs to have 2 pieces of sensors instead of just 1 piece. But he just acts blurred and says that only one piece of sensor is needed when his successor checks it out with him.

One of the Buyers is leaving and she has been complaining about the heavy workload that she has had. I just came to find out last week that she has not been monitoring what her vendor is supposed to do. The goods delivery date was supposed to be on 19 Sep but her vendor was still checking out with me about the part fabrication on 19 Sep. The excuse that she gave to me is that she is very busy. Who is not?!

Perhaps I cannot expect too much from my co-workers who are serving their resignation notice in view of people are no longer having the heart to work. However, I feel that the resigning staff should leave gracefully and should try their best to help whoever is taking over the jobs in order to have a smooth transition. I do understand that the list of tasks never ends. What I’m trying to say is that if I choose to leave my company one day, I will do my best to help my successor or colleagues to take over my tasks. I don’t want my team mates to suffer and struggle. I think we should be mature enough to be a responsible working adult.

Passion To Write Is Driving Me To Blog Regularly

My buddy visited my personal Blog recently and made a comment in her email regarding how frequent I have published my Blog posts. I guess she has not been visiting my Blog for a while so the number of new Blog posts seem overwhelming for her. She says that I’m addicted to Blogging and advises me to take more rest so as to have more energy to work on a new project in my job.

passion_to_write

I think my buddy just don’t understand what Blogging is. Blogging is an online journal or personal diary for people to write and express their thoughts in words. Blog site is dymamic and it has to be updated regularly. Whereas, website is static that doesn’t require much updates. Furthermore, writing is my passion and I always love to write. I told my friend that I have so much to say but I cannot find a listening ear around. So, Blogging is for me.

I have a full-time job for me to make ends meet. Yes, I’m getting busier and busier with my job. There are many activities coming my way but I don’t have enough time to complete every task assigned to me. I’m feeling quite frustrated at times. I think I have to priortise the tasks properly in view of the heavy workload.

Although I’m busy at work, I wouldn’t want to sacrifice all my time for my job. I think I have done more than enough and I should cut it off somewhere before my work is invading into my personal life. So, no matter how busy I am, I still make it a point to write Blog posts.

I believe in perseverance. If a person has the heart to do something, things will happen no matter how busy the person could be. Contrarily, a person will find all kind of excuses for not doing something that he/she never has the heart to make it happen.

Writing is my passion and Blogging is an enjoyment to me. There are many things that worth my attention alongside my job. I have my own life to live. I have my own piece of sky to express myself and to find myself. So, I’m not addicted to Blogging. I hope you understand me better, my buddy.
