My Piece of Sky Blog Turns 1 Year Old Today | Laingan.com

I started my Laingan.com personal Blog on 25 August 2008 and it’s one year already. Just how time flies? This “My Piece of Sky Blog” turns 1 year old today.

I have written 252 Blog posts including this one. It is not unexpected for me to have come this far in updating my WordPress Blog quite regularly. Thanks to my persistence 😛

This is my little piece of sky for myself to share my views, express my thoughts, record my daily activity, put my feelings into words and so on. The purpose is to amuse myself during leisure time. In fact, this is an entertainment for myself and I feel happy for being able to own this little piece of sky.

While most people enjoy watching TV programs, I would rather spend time doing my writing and reading. They might not understand the amount of joy that this Blog of mine has brought to me. I really enjoy the process of writing every single Blog post.

The enjoyment starts from preparing for the topic that I wanted to write about, organising my thoughts, designing the graphics, editing the photos, uploading the files to the server, publishing the Blog posts, reading my own posts and so on.

I might have come to a point for being long-winded at times because the writing juice will just flow as I write along. But this shows that I can really write 😛

I notice from the Cpanel that people from various countries are following my personal Blog quite regularly. If you are one of them, I thank you for visiting my Little Piece of Sky Blog. I appreciate it 🙂

April Fool’s Day 2009 – In Memory Of Leslie Cheung

Today is April Fool’s Day and this is the day to play practical jokes on friends, family and even enemies 😛 So, you ought to be in the mood to enjoy April Fool’s Day rather than to take things too seriously.

Leslie Cheung was one of my most favorite artistes since my school days. I often listened to his songs whenever I felt lonely and bored back then.

But I was sad to know that Leslie Cheung had chosen to end his life on the April Fool’s Day in 2003. It was such an unbelievable and shocking news when I first watched the news on the mobile TV inside the bus when I was on my way home six years ago.

Leslie Cheung had ended his own life by jumping down from the 24th storey of the Mandarin hotel in Hong Kong. Nobody knows the reason as to why he wanted to commit suicide. Perhaps he was very depressed and was having some trouble that caused him to give up hopes at that moment.

Just like Anita Mui who was also my favourite artiste, Leslie Cheung was also a talented artiste who can sing, act and dance very well especially when he was performing live on the stage.

His death is a great loss to the Hong Kong show business. I believe Leslie Cheung’s fans and people who love him dearly will never ever forget about his pretty face.

So, let us enjoy his great performance in Korea as featured in the video clip below when he was singing his popular “Sleepless Night” song  :

Anita Mui – The Best Of The Best Chinese Female Artists Of All Times

I always remember that the second last day of the year is the death anniversary of Anita Mui since 2003. Time really passes very quickly and today (30 Dec) is Anita Mui’s 5th death anniversary already.

Although Anita Mui is no longer living in this world, she is still one of my most favourite artistes since my school days. I remember that I used to take my pocket money to buy Anita Mui’s cassettes whenever she had released her new songs or albums.

I inserted the cassette to my walkman and listened to Anita Mui’s songs when I was sitting on the bus on my way to school. I was never lonesome as her songs were keeping me company throughout the journey. I often listened to Anita Mui’s songs when I was lazing about on my bed too.

One of Anita Mui’s most popular song is entitled “Bad Girl“. I still can remember her singing : “Why Why Tell Me Why?” although I seldom listen to this song these days.

Just like Momoe Yamaguchi, who is also my favourite artiste, Anita Mui had low, husky and yet powerful voice. She was a born-singer and her good voice had attracted millions of fans and supporters.

Anita Mui was also an excellent stage-performer who sparkled prominently whenever she was on the stage. She can sing, dance, act and perform well. Anita Mui had her talents and her charisma as an artiste of the Hong Kong show business.

In my opinion, Anita Mui is still the best of the best Chinese female artistes of all times. Her all-rounded talents made her outstanding. Nobody can replace Anita Mui so far or forever. Anita Mui is indeed a legend of the Hong Kong entertainment circle.

Let us pay a tribute to Anita Mui.

Hope you enjoy watching her live performance by clicking the video clip below :

To Dad With Love – In Memory Of My Father On His Second Anniversary Of Departure

Today is the second anniversary of my dad’s death. How time passes? It has been 2 years since my dad was gone on 22 Nov 2006. He was 82 years old at that time and died of stomach cancer.

To-Dad-With-Love

I still can remember that I had received a call from my family to inform me about our father was in critical condition while I was still working in the office on 21 Nov 2006. I informed my boss about my dad’s condition and told him that I needed to go off immediately. Then, I grabbed my bag and dashed off as quickly as I could.

When I reached the hospital, the nurse told us that my dad was still very energetic in the morning but he had lost his consciousness closed to noon time. The doctor told us to be mentally-prepared and predicted my dad would be gone within the day by 3pm.

My dad used to have a strong will to live and he didn’t pass away within the day as the doctor had predicted. My family kept him company round the clock. On the next day, my dad was still in unconscious state. Then, my siblings and I took turn to stay by his bed to look after him.

In the afternoon and closed to 3pm, my eldest brother and I were by my dad’s side. Suddenly, my brother saw my dad was trembling with breathing difficulty and he signalled me to notify our siblings. The medical staff were rushing in to diagnose my dad and were trying to revive him. Unfortunately, my dad’s heart had stopped its beating and the doctor declared that my dad was dead.

My dad was a very determined person and his strong-will to-live had earned him one more day to survive. The message that my dad was trying to convey is that “never give up hope easily”. Thanks dad, you are always in our heart. We hope you are doing well in the other world. To dad, with love.

My school teacher taught me to sing the “Oh My Papa” song when I was a kid. I found the video clip of this song sung by “The Everly Brothers” on YouTube. Hope you enjoy watching the “Oh My Papa” video :
