Working Late Recently
I’m very busy with my job and have been working late these few weeks to clear some of the tasks. The to-do list is getting longer and longer. The breathing space is getting narrower and narrower. The pressure is getting larger and larger. I’m getting more and more tired.
I only have a pair of hands but I need to do multi-tasking. The heavy workload requires me to work long hours to clear the tasks bit by bit before they are piling up like a hill. Furthermore, some of my co-workers have tendered their resignation letters recently. They are half-hearted with their job now. Some of them simply ignore what they are supposed to do and leave the unfinished tasks tangling in the air.
In my opinion, these people are just a bunch of irresponsible and inconsiderate folks. One of my co-workers purposely leave thing there and wait for his successor to find out what is needed to be done. He knows that there is a new add-on to the bill of materials but he just didn’t want to update it. He is aware that the new requirement needs to have 2 pieces of sensors instead of just 1 piece. But he just acts blurred and says that only one piece of sensor is needed when his successor checks it out with him.
One of the Buyers is leaving and she has been complaining about the heavy workload that she has had. I just came to find out last week that she has not been monitoring what her vendor is supposed to do. The goods delivery date was supposed to be on 19 Sep but her vendor was still checking out with me about the part fabrication on 19 Sep. The excuse that she gave to me is that she is very busy. Who is not?!
Perhaps I cannot expect too much from my co-workers who are serving their resignation notice in view of people are no longer having the heart to work. However, I feel that the resigning staff should leave gracefully and should try their best to help whoever is taking over the jobs in order to have a smooth transition. I do understand that the list of tasks never ends. What I’m trying to say is that if I choose to leave my company one day, I will do my best to help my successor or colleagues to take over my tasks. I don’t want my team mates to suffer and struggle. I think we should be mature enough to be a responsible working adult.
